Some cardiac disorders (particularly those involving the “coronary arteries,” which provide blood to your heart muscle) appears only when you exercise. A stress echocardiography may be recommended by your doctor to check for coronary artery issues.
- Ultrasound images of your heart are taken before and after you walk on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike in a stress echocardiogram.
- If you are unable to exercise, a pharmaceutical injection will be given to make your heart pump as fast as it would if you were exercising.
